2016 reading list.


I love the beginning of one year and end of another, primarily for the wrap-up posts and surveys everyone shares. Creeping on books is the best! I love it because of all the Reading Challenges. Personally, I'm not into reading challenges cause I really don't need any more rules in my life but I love how everyone is sharing their reading lists because that is where I have discovered some pretty good reads. I decided to share my reads as well, hopefully you'll spot a potential read for yourself. 2015 was a good reading year for me, I read new authors, new genres and I hope to continue with that this year. Here are some of the books I plan on reading this year:


A book that my boss gave me: A Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes.

A book I've been meaning to read: Americanah by Chimamanda

A book about a culture I'm unfamiliar with: Ghana Must Go by Taiye Selasi

A book about South Africa and Botswana: White Dog Fell From the Sky by Eleanor Morse.

A genre I don't usually read: F**k it, a self-help book by John Parkin.


A book by a favorite speaker: Some of My Bestfriends are White by Ndumiso Ngobo

An autobiography: Eye Bags and Dimples by Bonnie Henna

A book by a favorite preacher: Lioness Arising by Lisa Bevere

A book about history: Wives and Sweethearts, Love letters written in the first and second World.


A book that has been said is a tear-jerker: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

A book about African-American history: The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill

A book that was originally written in a different language: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by S. Larsson.

A book by a popular author: Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche

A book by a favorite author: Ask For It by Sylvia Day.

    Hi Cindy - thanks for coming over to my blog. The Eleanor Morse book looks good ... having lived in South Africa for a while, and been to Botswana a few times ... this will make an interesting read. I've read the Larsson book ... and I'm sure your other choices will be good reads - interesting to see your list - cheers Hilary

    I used to be an avid reader, I've missed it and I have been planning on changing that this year.

    I wanted to thank you for dropping by my blog... I believe forgiving people is one of the most difficult things... I always thought I was pretty good at it until this last woman... I'm working on getting there though... it's more for me then her anyway... xox ♡

      I like both but I think as I get older I'm gonna start read non-fiction. Biographies and business books.

    There was a book reader ... and that reader is coming back alive, lol! I love me a good legal thriller, literally all books by Kenneth E. Hagin and any good book really.
    Nice list you have there, maybe I'll pick up one of these too, as I awaken the sleeping reader in me.

    I don't refer to myself as a reader, but I'm developing that side of me! I spot many potential reads in your list!! Ahhh...how I wish I can keep a few of those without handing out cash for it.. ha.

      I'm enjoying it!! It's just what I need it to remind myself not to take everything too seriously and enjoy life more. I plan to do a review on my blog once I'm done.

    I am a massive fan of reading! I read lots of MG and YA, there are some great books out there in this age group. I notice Lauren Oliver and JoJo Moyes on your list both authors I have enjoyed. I don't read so much non-fiction (although already this year I have read one so maybe that will change).

    I have only read americanah by chimamanda and its a fantastic read!I've been wanting to read Ghana must go but I haven't heard any great reviews, I'd pick it up sometime. And yes! Thank you visiting my blog 😘.

    An interesting glimpse into your planned reading material for this year. Most of the authors's names are unknown to me - hardly surprising but all the more interesting! Are you going to write reviews of the books that you have read?

    I wish you follow through on your reading list.
    I don't really give myself a list per say. I just read what interest me in the moment. Last year i read 92 books, my goal was 100 but i got lazy and some i borrow i didn't like and didn't bother to read.

    Yayy, your list is so cool. I've read some of the books on there but I see a few I haven't read and I'll add them to my reading list.
    Piece of advice for Ghana Must Go: If you find the beginning boring, don't give up on it lol. It gets pretty interesting and intense soon after.

    Ohh I used to read before and stopped because basically I don't have that much time on my hands after school books. But 2016 started good, I'm currently reading (more like listening cause it's an audio book, it's easier that way Lol) 48 laws of power!! Its a MUST READ REALLY!!

    I'm always happy when I meet a fellow reading enthusiast. Books are like fuel to me, they fill me with imagination as I escape into the characters' minds and experiences.

    I've read both books by Chimamanda and the one by Taiye Selasie. I've watched Girl with the dragon tattoo, does that count as reading? Lol

    I've developed a strong love for African writers, the new wave of authors have a fresh way of telling their stories.

    Recently, I decided to rekindle my love for the authors I liked as a teenager, I've been reading Danielle Steele and Sidney Sheldon books again, those books were called bestsellers for good reason!
